Obstacles and Road Blocks

I know I had promised playlists, recipes, and workout plans in my next post, but I have been facing a few different obstacles in my life, which got me thinking about how we can over come them and what they are meant for.
“When life gives you lemons, make lemonade”, now the hard part is figuring out HOW to make lemonade with what you have been given. You can either step up and take this challenge, be creative and create something amazing with something so negative, or you can let the lemons get the best of you, and continue through life without experiencing joy and happiness ever again.
What path do you choose?
Most of the challenges and obstacles in life are meant to make a person stronger, to make them realize what they really want in life and what is worth fighting for. These lessons are disguised in different areas of our lives like relationships, careers, finances, or health issues. Each situation must be addressed, and clearly acknowledged as to what exactly the problem is. Then a plan of action must be created to attempt to over come that problem. It may be necessary to try several options to over come each situation, but never give up because eventually you will find the right one. Also be aware that the answer that someone else may use to move past a problem may not be the one that will work for you. Everyone will have their own path that they need to follow.
Follow the path that you choose with confidence, strength, and a clear mind.
Sometimes life will really throw you a curve ball and create several different road blocks in different areas of you life at the same time. This is when your real strength of character shines through. Prove to the world, and to yourself that you can handle anything and everything that gets in your way! It may take some time for us to build up that strength and confidence to face those issues but if we keep trying then on day we will be guaranteed to succeed.
Never give up on what you want out of life!
Stay positive, never give up and chase after what you want most in life. Your life is yours to create, make it whatever you want it to be. You are the only on with the power to change your life!

Bring it on 2012!

Today was truly the beginning of an amazing year! I strongly believe that this year is going to change my life, big things are going to happen, and I am really going to learn and understand who I am and what I am meant to be.
In the past week I have been reading my horoscope in a variety of different places. There seems to be a common thread going through each one. It’s almost scary how accurate they are.

"I'm going to be me, without fear or apology!"

This was one of the mantras suggested for my sign taurus. Some of them have also said that this will be a big year for my career, that I will work hard and it won’t go unnoticed. I am excited for this year and what it has to offer!
Now is the perfect time to share my goals and plans for 2012! The best way to follow through with your goals is make yourself accountable. Tell people what you want to achieve and request the help of your family and friends. This year is your year to reach whatever goals you set! What do you want to change this year? I would love to hear what your goals are for 2012, share them below in the comments!
My Goals for 2012:
Learn to cook
Run a half marathon (June 17th)
Buy my first house
Do a photo shoot
Get my nutrition certification
Cross 5 things off my bucket list
Kick my sweet tooth good bye
The next thing to do is create a plan of action to help you reach those goals, and set smaller ones to use as stepping stones along the way. My plan of action will involve creating a new workout play list to keep my intensity up in my workouts and runs, working out with friends and creating a workout plan to keep myself on track and motivated, researching recipes to try - cook with friends and swap dishes for the week, and create a budget and stick to it.
I will have a break down of my plan on my next post with an awesome new workout playlist, recipes to try, my workout plan, and my updated bucket list.
Stay tuned!
Share your goals and change your life!

Realizing the Importance of Life

I just wanted to share a few thoughts I had today while sitting at home enjoying a quiet Christmas Day with my family. Enjoy the holidays with your loved ones!

As a child I always thought the most important part of the holidays were the presents and toys. Now that I have grown up a little more I have realized that relationships and experiences are the gifts of life.  Things and stuff are really just a way of showing those you care about your appreciation and love for them.
Especially around the holidays I am reminded of the importance of family. I am amazed by the strength of family and how their love and support will help you through anything.  This year more then ever I have realized that the lack of family - either by choice or not -   is one of the most difficult things to deal with. Please always remember that you should cherish your family and love them no matter what! At the end of the day they are the ones who will help and support you though anything life throws your way!
Happy Holidays!
Wishing You and Your Family Health and Happiness for 2012!

The Beginning

Technically this is the beginning since this is my first post, but this journey that I am on really started earlier this year in April, 2011 - right around my birthday. However, something happened on my birthday the year before, that started the ball rolling on my journey.
On my previous birthday in 2010 I received a gift from one of my lifelong friends who knows me better then anyone. With this gift he said: “Keren, I think this should be your mantra, your quote for life.” On the necklace he gave me it said “Keep Calm and Carry on”. This really hit me, he was right. It helped me through my day to day stresses and reminded me to stay calm.
During 2010 I started to realize what it actually meant to me and how powerful this saying was. I looked closely at my life, my mental, physical, and emotional health... then I had a light bulb moment! I had no balance in my life. I was not putting myself first, I was not taking into consideration what I needed from my life and what I needed to give myself. I realized that there were a lot of things I wasn’t happy with in myself, my relationships and my life. That’s when the big changes started to happen.
Since then each major change I have gone through has taught me so much about who I am and what I want from life, including who I surround myself with, and how I react to situations that I am faced with. It has also given me the confidence in knowing that I am proud of who I am and what I have accomplished so far. And now I know, I can do anything! However, this state of being is not static, you cannot reach it and stop. I am still always learning and changing, fighting to be the best I can be. Join me on my journey while I work to maintain a balance within my physical, mental and emotional well being.
